We are currently in Swan Hill in Victoria after night stops in Gundagai and a stop at a friend of Kaths last night near Wangarrata. Quite a bit of driving for Kath and a big day tomorrow to reach Adelaide before nightfall. We opted for a cabin tonight which meant no unpacking or packing up tents so used the time to do a few short walks, get the tyres checked and balanced on Priscilla and enjoy alovely balmy night on the deck of a currently very quiet caravan park. Easter soon so i expect it wont stay this quiet for much longer.
Highlights today included a fantastic bakery stop in Echuca and a lovely walk along the river near our cabin in Swan Hill. This is a picture of the single lane bridge that connects NSW and VIC. We are literally on the border of two states!
Hoping for a good nights sleep and a good journey day tomorrow.. Continue reading “Swan Hill”

Departure Day!
After a big weekend of packing, cleaning and moving stuff to storage and loading some of the larger items into the Prado, we still had the roof rack and final car packing to complete today. We were up early and it was raining so we did what we could inside before having to tackle the outside tasks. Lets just say we both got soaked putting up the roof rack and packing it and for me ferrying stuff and trying to load it without soaking the stuff or inside of car. All done and off by 2:30 though and began heading to Gundagai. Luckily a smooth run with just one stop for tea and we are now in a very lovely cabin at Gundagai caravan and cabin park. Bed for the night before a bit of a lighter day tomorrow hopefully exploring the area and then heading to visit a friend of Kath. It is now feeling a bit more real
New adventure
8 years ago, around about this time of year, I took a massive big plunge into the unknown, and travelled overseas to live, work, travel and ultimately get addicted to photography. Some of you may have followed my blog at the time – which I kept updated regularly for 18 months. I was pretty impressed with my efforts in keeping a daily blog for the adventure and it provides me now, a great reference to re-live the experiences, places and people.
Fast forward to 2016 and I am about to embark on another huge adventure, travelling around half of Australia with some good friends, in a 4wd, with the goal to produce a photographic representation of ‘My Australia’. We will be documenting the trip at our website and related social media sites – which you may already be following at White Coast Red Centre.
I have also decided to keep a regular personal blog of the experience, as it will be one of the biggest challenges I have undertaken on the travel and photography front. It seems worthy of some daily blogging effort. I am finishing up today, my last day at my contract job and then it is only a few days until departure. After years of planning, saving and preparation for this, it is very much time to get excited. Stay tuned!
